Shattered reflections: A Poetic Journey into the Unseen Breaks of the Heart
People say they have a broken heart and can’t show love.
What can I say when my heart is not broken,
But love can’t penetrate the strongholds around it?
When I hope to love, but it draws farther from me.
I am broken — broken indeed.

Like a phone whose screen guard is cracked
How broken I am cannot be easily seen
Until a light is brought near,
Until it’s alone in the dark and the only light visible is the one from within,
That’s when you can see just how broken I am.

I strive to love and hope to be loved.
When love is given, I lose all interest,
Only to chase after those who don’t love me.
And I convince myself that they do.
I am broken, like shards of glass.

The heart breaks, but then is mended.
The mind breaks, but then is healed.
What to do when it’s none of these?
When what’s broken is the entirety of me
I’ll crawl into the shadows, hiding the broken me.
